Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore
February 22, 1975
Culver City, California

This multi-talented triple Pisces is easy-going, other-worldly, compassionate and wise.

'There's something liberating about not pretending. Dare to embarrass yourself. Risk.'

Drew Blyth Barrymore was born into a true theatre dynasty. She is the daughter of actor John Drew Barrymore and Hungarian model Jaid Barrymore. Actress Diana Barrymore is her aunt. Actors Ethel Barrymore and Lionel Barrymore are her great-aunt and great-uncle. Her grandfather was actor John Barrymore and her great-grandfather was silent film actor Maurice Costello. Steven Spielberg is her godfather.

A bona fide child star, her silver screen debut was in Spielberg's E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982). She was seven. That same year she was 'Saturday Night Live's' youngest host ever.

Although she didn't graduate from high school, in addition to her acting prowess, Drew is a successful film producer. In 1995 she and Nancy Juvonen started their own production company, Flower Films. They have ten movies under their belt including Never Been Kissed (1999), Charlie's Angels (2000), Donnie Darko (2001), 50 First Dates (2004), Fever Pitch (2005) and Music and Lyrics (2007) co-starring Hugh Grant. Drew stars or co-stars in all of the company's productions. Flower Films has pulled in more than 187 million dollars internationally.

Unrelated to Flower Films, she appeared in Poison Ivy (1992), Bad Girls (1994), Batman Forever (1995), Everyone Says I Love You (1996), Scream (1996), The Wedding Singer (1998), Ever After (1998), Riding in Cars with Boys (2001) and Lucky You (2007).

On February 3, 2004 Drew was honored with her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, following in the footsteps of her legendary kin Ethel, John and Lionel Barrymore.

Sun in Pisces reveals that she is a dreamer -- gentle, impressionable and receptive. The world of her imagination and intuition is as real to her as anything in the outer world. Mystical, artistic, musical, emotional and imaginative, she has a rich inner life.

Drew has great sensitivity and empathy with others. She often senses things intuitively which later prove to be correct. She is tolerant, forgiving and nonjudgmental, accepting people unconditionally regardless of their flaws. She has deep compassion for the suffering of her fellow creatures, sympathizing with the disadvantaged and the misfits of society. She is capable of giving selflessly, living a life of devoted and compassionate service to others. However, she tends to give indiscriminately, to let others take advantage of her kindness, and to encourage the weak to remain so by becoming dependent upon her. She has little sense of boundaries, of knowing when to say no. Moderation and self-discipline are not her strong points.

She is a lover and a peacemaker rather than a fighter, and tries to avoid open conflict. She will patiently ignore problems and hope they go away by themselves, rather than directly confront them. She is fluid, open and somewhat passive.

Her gifts lie in the realm of the creative, artistic or musical, for she has a great sensitivity and limitless imagination. She responds very strongly to beauty and to love.

Her faults include a tendency to become so detached from her immediate environment that she lives in a disorderly, chaotic sort of hodgepodge, though this probably bothers those around her more than it bothers her. 'I live in a tiny, crappy old prewar bachelorette apartment, and I love it,' she told New York Magazine in February, 2007.

Sun trine Uranus indicates that the unusual and unconventional appeal to her. She does not allow other people's expectations to dictate how she lives her life. She craves freedom, excitement and discovery, and is not afraid of change. She possesses inventive and creative genius. Sun conjunct Mercury/Venus means she always seems to find the right words to verbalize her feelings, especially in regard to love and friendship. She also has a keen sense of beauty and appreciates art, music or poetry.

Sun conjunct Mercury/Jupiter suggests that she has great intellectual ability and curiosity. She never seems to run out of ideas and always welcomes the study of new subjects, the more abstract the better. But she also has the basic sense to translate abstract ideas into practical reality.

Mercury in Aquarius makes her a progressive thinker, open to the latest discoveries in any field. She has high expectations and a deep belief that mankind's problems can be solved through the use of creative intelligence. She likes to keep abreast of world affairs for she instinctively knows that what happens in one part of the world affects us all. She has a strong humanitarian impulse, an aptitude for organization and enjoys being involved in cooperative or innovative endeavors.

Mercury quincunx Saturn means she has a serious mind and when out of balance, may tend toward cynicism or judgmental thinking. These are tendencies she can counteract by focusing on the humor in a situation and by associating with cheerful people. Obviously in tune with her stars, Drew says, 'I love levity. As crazy as I am, I just love to laugh!'

Mercury sextile Neptune shows she is imaginative and nonlinear in her thinking. She has a gift for writing poetry, fiction or fantasy. She also has a natural openness to the spiritual side of life and could write or speak on these subjects. 'I believe in fate,' she affirms. 'I believe that everything happens for a reason, but I think it's important to seek out that reason -- that's how you learn.' With Mercury trine Pluto she is interested in anything secret or mysterious including the deeper aspects of the human psyche.

Venus in Pisces makes her tremendously softhearted and sympathetic. She gives very selflessly and devotedly to those she loves and, again, may allow others to become overly dependent upon her. She is drawn to sensitive, imaginative souls and needs someone she can have a deep spiritual relationship with. She idealizes love and has a romantic vision of what it can be.

Drew married Jeremy Thomas on March 20, 1994. They divorced in February of 1995. She and second husband Tom Green were married twice. First they eloped to the South Pacific. Then on July 7, 2001 they tied the knot in a Malibu, California ceremony surrounded by family and friends. They honeymooned in Ireland and were divorced in October of 2002.

Venus conjunct Jupiter reveals she is big-hearted and generous with both her money and her affections. She is not happy if she has to budget or restrict herself in any way. Her optimistic, friendly attitude towards others tends to bring out their finer side.

Mars in Capricorn indicates she is serious about her ambitions; disciplined and tenacious in pursuing her objectives. Her drive and energy are directed toward achieving concrete results. She enjoys being in a position of authority and social influence. 'I love women who have fought to change the world and made a difference,' says Drew. 'I want to be one of them myself.'

She is hard-working and capable of foregoing immediate comfort in order to achieve her long-range goals. She can easily become a workaholic as she is very responsible and conscientious about doing a thorough job.

Realistic and pragmatic, she is an excellent strategist. She is not a gambler when it comes to attaining her goals, depending on her own efforts and perseverance rather than luck. 'I don't want to sit around and hope good things happen,' she asserts. 'I want to make them happen.'

Mars sextile Jupiter endows her with a confident attitude which people in her environment pick up on eagerly. Inspiring others to go out and do their very best is one of her innate gifts. She has faith in the power of action and boldness: 'I believe you can be the person that you dream of being.'

Jupiter in Pisces promises that her ability to empathize with others makes her unwilling to take advantage of or hurt anyone. She cares about the underdog. Very fond of doing things for others, she may sacrifice her own desires for them. She feels an inner joy from being able to help. In her words, 'When I lay my head on the pillow at night, I can say 'I was a decent person today.' That's when I feel beautiful.'

Jupiter opposition Saturn/N. Node means she likes to be alone and seems to be happy when she is by herself. Having recently ended a relationship, she told New York Magazine, 'Being single in New York is a whole new world for me. Life is really, really good.'

With Saturn in Cancer she fears becoming emotionally dependent upon others, and may distance herself or deny her need for closeness to avoid being vulnerable. At other times, she may need constant reassurance from loved ones.

Saturn square Pluto guarantees that once she decides what she wants to do, she will pursue it tenaciously. She has deep inner resolve, although others may not know how driven she is about the things that are important to her.

Saturn quincunx Neptune indicates that she may struggle with nebulous worries and fears. She may be afraid of getting acquainted with the inner workings of her mind and soul. She has to work hard to overcome being too serious regarding the spiritual side of life, especially if her religious upbringing emphasized guilt and retribution. Reorienting herself in the direction of spiritual optimism will do much to lift the cloud of worry that settles over her occasionally. Very self-aware, she has admitted, 'As much light as I have inside me, there's just as much darkness, I'm afraid. There's a polarity, and I still have demons to work out.'

Saturn opposition Jupiter/Uranus gives her a desire to break away from tradition and to free herself from restricting conditions.

N. Node conjunct Neptune reiterates that musical and artistic endeavors are very important to her. It also suggests that she would benefit from becoming even more aware of the spiritual side of life -- the underlying unity -- by involving herself in charitable activities. Meditation practices that develop her intuitive abilities can be important steps in her path.

Says Drew, 'Life is very interesting. In the end, some of your greatest pains become your greatest strengths.'
